When you picture a system administrator, you might imagine someone buried in code, quietly fixing problems from a dimly lit office. For Clint, though, the role is far more dynamic—hands-on, fast-paced, and constantly evolving. It’s a job he’s been preparing for since his teenage years, even if he didn’t realize it at the time.

Clint starts each morning the same way: scanning his inbox to identify the day’s most urgent priorities. If there’s a fire to put out, he jumps in immediately—delegating tasks to the team and troubleshooting issues head-on. Once the chaos dies down, he turns his attention to the previous day’s unfinished checklist, because in IT, there’s always something that rolls over.

What keeps Clint motivated is the variety. “I’m not stuck doing one thing over and over,” he says. “We work with so many different technologies—Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft 365—you name it. Every client has their own mix of tools, which means I’m constantly learning something new.” That constant exposure to different systems keeps his work challenging and fresh.

Of course, the job comes with its share of high-pressure moments. One of Clint’s most grueling experiences came while working for an electric provider, when their Exchange server crashed. He spent 24 straight hours rebuilding corrupted mailbox databases from scratch—no breaks, no sleep, just pure determination. In the end, the system was restored, and the client was back online. “It was brutal,” Clint admits, “but also incredibly rewarding.”

Clint credits a few key tools with keeping operations running smoothly. LG Networks’ RMM serves as the backbone of their automation, while automation handles onboarding and offboarding. Security is bolstered with SOC and EDR solutions—vital for keeping client systems safe.

His path into IT started early. At 13, his father—an employee at Texas Instruments—brought home a T.I. recorder, which Clint hooked up to the family TV. He loaded cassette tapes, played a quirky gorilla game involving exploding bananas, and was hooked. Soon he was teaching himself QBasic in middle school. Though he took a detour into sales for a while, he eventually returned to tech, landing his first official IT job at LG Networks—a role that feels like a culmination of years of curiosity and tinkering.

If Clint weren’t working in IT, he says he’d probably be in woodworking. “I like building things with my hands and seeing a finished product,” he explains. “Whether it’s a piece of furniture or solving an IT problem, the satisfaction is the same.”

His advice for aspiring system administrators is simple: be flexible and learn quickly. “Technology moves at lightning speed,” he says. “By the time you’ve mastered one thing, the next big change is already here. Stay curious, stay sharp.”

When he’s off the clock, Clint prefers to step away from screens. His weekends are filled with home projects—building fences, adding a laundry room, tackling plumbing or carpentry work. “If something needs fixing, I’m probably doing it,” he says with a grin.

And if he could automate one part of his life? “The drive to and from work,” he answers instantly. A self-driving car is tempting, though he’s not ready to go fully electric just yet. “Give me a gas-powered car with some autonomy and we’ll talk.”

From his early days coding in QBasic to marathons of server recovery, Clint’s story is one of adaptability, problem-solving, and a genuine love of building—whether it’s virtual systems or real-world structures. At LG Networks, that passion doesn’t just keep things running—it keeps the whole operation moving forward.
